500%

Design ethics and sustainability are fundamental to the design education at KADK. Each student should have a clear and well-informed stance on code of conduct and how they envision their role as responsible designers in the future.

As part of a cross-program course on design ethics, a group of students created a blue shirt that was 500% the size of an average European 36. The project relates to the “UN Sustainable Development Goals” by addressing acceptable work conditions and sustainable economic growth. 

The mission was to create awareness about the work that lies behind manufacturing a garment as a way to show the true value according to a parameter of the time. The over-sized shirt is intended to bring attention to the amount of growing, dyeing, cutting and sewing that goes into a garment, which is not necessarily reflected in high street fashion.
