Stina Resting: "It's a Wrap"

Three KADK profiles are nominated for the bi-annual Designers’ Nest competition. The Designers’ Nest Award is an independent non-profit design contest run in collaboration with the 10 leading Nordic Design Schools.

The Designers’ Nest Award, which was presented for the first time 13 years ago, has been created with the aim of rewarding particularly talented and promising design students with recognition from the established world of fashion.

The KADK nominees are:

Stina Resting with “It’s a Wrap”
The collection addresses the concept of wrapping as metaphor for how we dress. Via photos of wrapped street objects cues on (in)visibility, (un)veiling and (dis)appearing emerged as design method. The result is both a conceptual and useable collection seen in the materials, techniques and silhouettes echoing the aesthetic and everyday magic of the wrapped objects. Stina received her master’s degree from Fashion Design last summer.

Lærke Koldskov with “The Supermarket Experiment - One More Time with Feeling”

As a point of departure, Lærke was inspired by UN Development Goal 12, Responsible Consumption and Production, which she explored through experiments with supermarket clothes. The generic check pattern from a supermarket shirt is copied and distorted, each time adding more “feeling” to it. The exorbitant amounts of pleated fabrics in her collection refer to the ever growing piles of discarded clothes overflowing landfills and thrift shops. She aims to bring attention to how the love and craft that goes into creating a garment and textile can prolong its product life. Lærke received her master’s degree from Fashion Design last summer.

Emil Bang Hoffmann: “Out of Proportion”

The starting point of his BA collection was the feminine attitude and postures he know from pictures from his grandmother’s youth. With inspiration in the artists George Baselitz and The Dufala Brothers, the collection “Out of Proportion” was created with elements of deconstructed well-known classic garment details. The collection explores expansion of garment parts as well as constrained mobility. Although aiming for a feminine expression, the pieces are not constructed to specifically fit either a woman or a man’s body, and the collection is to be worn by anybody who feels they have the right attitude and courage. Emil is currently completing his master’s degree at KADK.

The jury consists of:
