KADK Collaboration with UN City
180 students from KADK met with staff from UN City to discuss solutions to UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Fashion Design moderated the sessions on Gender Equality looking at the broad span of issues from the role of lighting at bus stops as a way of creating safer spaces for women in developing countries and craft as a creative tool of empowerment to the more conceptual approaches where design can contribute by challenging gender norms through visual means.
In addition to talks by UN Women representatives and debate sessions, the event featured an exhibition including Fashion Design alumni, Ragna Sigríður Bjarnadóttir and Alexander Marstrand. The exhibit runs until Culture Night on 13 October.
