Think Outside the Wardrobe

Program
Graphic Communication Design

Fast Fashion and the high consumption of garments are big contributors to carbon emissions and consume enormous volumes of water. We need to change our behaviour!

In our research on the topic, we discovered that the available information is mostly presented in unfathomable statistics and complex numbers. This may be one reason why many consumers don’t pay attention or care.

The goal was to translate these numbers to make them more accessible. In this graphic design project, a short video  gives the viewer a quick overview of the water footprint of a conventional cotton T-shirt, serving as a metaphor for the fashion industry as a whole. Similarly, a water glass metaphorises water consumption. By also giving helpful advice, we strive to inspire change.

A curated list of sustainable fashion labels and useful links are available on a different mini-site.
