BISS: Baltic International Summer School 2018

The Baltic International Summer School 2018 (B.I.S.S.) at HCU in Hamburg focusses on the collaboration between architects, engineers and related subjects. The summer school takes place in Hamburg at HafenCity University from Friday 10th August – Saturday 18th August 2018.

The summer school has taken place each year since 2015, bringing together participants from universities in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Russia and Germany. Focusing on Hamburg's city centre as the target to the topic 'Beyond Urban Flows - Architecture and Engineering for Transition Places'  you will work in small interdisciplinary and international groups to deal with the development of a specific area to bring more life to the inner-city, asking how such transition places can be re-shaped or how borders and limitations can be overcome.

Architectural potentials and effects will be explored through technical, functional, aesthetic and social challenges. The program includes social activities, keynote lectures, small excursions and more.

The summer school takes place in Hamburg at HafenCity University from Friday 10th August – Saturday 18th August 2018.

Accommodation (10 nights) and lunch is provided by the summer school.

Public transportation costs in Hamburg will be covered.

The workshop includes free course material, IT and workshop facilities, and access to exclusive guest lectures.

Students will be awarded 5 ECTS certification on successful completion of the Baltic International Summer School.
