With her collection entitled “Banalt ubehag” (Banal Discomfort), Katrine Hoffmann won second place at the talent competition, Designer’s Nest, on February 5 held during Copenhagen Fashion Week. Katrine graduated from Fashion Design (KADK) in January 2016. Design schools from all the Nordic countries took part in the competition in which selected students were judged on the use of innovative materials, creativity, commercial potential and originality. The jury included Thomas Kowalski, Head of Talent Acquisition for Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, and Vanja Hedberg, Senior Designer for Balenciaga. Independent scholar and curator, Ane Lynge-Jorlen, also in the jury, motivates the choice of Katrine for second place: “She explores the very basis of fashion but in a corporeal and conceptual sense. She experiments with materials and the female body in a pensive, norm shattering and reflective way – a strong and innovative project”. Congratulations, Katrine.
