190 individual perspectives on architecture and design.
Friday 27 June 2014 marks the opening of this summer’s major degree show at the Schools of Architecture and Design on Holmen. This year’s brood of 125 newly qualified architects and 65 newly qualified designers will present their degree projects to members of the public.

It is an opportunity to see town plans, transformations of urban spaces, new forms of housing and high-tech workplaces alongside fashion and textiles, furniture, industrial products, graphics, games and apps in this summer’s extensive, joint degree show. Get close for a sense of the products and materials, on which the students have been working intensively for the last six months as the culmination of their Master’s degree programme. The exhibition is presented on Holmen, the heartland of Danish creative education, where historic industrial buildings create a setting for the new generation’s ideas for where architecture and design should be heading in 2014.

What our future architects and designers have in common is that they have all been educated to involve the society and the world that surround them. With their practical, scientific and artistic skills they show that architects and designers work and think holistically and put people at the forefront. The new generation are driven by a strong commitment and ambition to achieve something in the world, and to create architecture and design, which speak to each and every one of our senses.

190 projects rich in relevance and creativity
This summer, 190 students will graduate from KADK’s two largest programmes. Here they show how they have worked strategically, aesthetically and innovatively with architecture and design, which is conceived with the majority in mind, and which can be utilised by people in many global contexts.

Our goal is not to produce graduates, who can simply create solutions for a market, which has already decided exactly what it needs. We educate our students to be much more ambitious and analytical than that: to create both a market and new contexts for users and for our towns and cities. But you can only do that, if you are able to engage with those people, who will use your services and products. And here we are lucky to see 190 inspiring ideas for how to do just that. They also accommodate the need for quality and radical innovation, which politicians, growth reports and the corporate world demand.
