//Due to the spreading of Corona virus in Denmark, the Government has decided to close all public educational institutions for the next two weeks to limit the risk of contamination. Therefore, all our public lectures and events are cancelled for the time being.
Join us for an open lecture with the owners of Praksis Arkitekter Mette Tony and Mads Bjørn Hansen. The lecture will focus on design strategies in relation to the detailing of their architecture.
Mette Tony and Mads Bjørn Hansen are founders and owners of Praksis Arkitekter, based in the small town of Troense, south of Funen. The architectural practice has in the last decade become renowned within a Danish context for a range of projects that at first glance may seem ordinary, but at a second glance evoke our imagination, enabling one to connect local and traditional cultures to contemporary culture. In the lecture, Mette Tony and Mads Bjørn Hansen are going to focus on design strategies in relation to the detailing of their architecture.
This lecture is part of the series More than Surface. The series is organized by the master’s program Spatial Design at the Institute of Architecture and Design. The point of departure for the lecture series is Gottfried Semper’s and Adolf Loos’ idea of dressing being even more principal in architecture than its supportive structure. This idea is expanded upon, to include a focus on the potential of details and materials, in a lecture series that involves historical and contemporary examples, researchers and practicing architects.
