Architecture and Dementia. New Models for Care Homes

Research project under
Spaces of Danish Welfare
Researcher
Louise Dedenroth Høj

This project explores the transformation and emergence of new care home typologies for people with dementia.

With the increasing elderly population, as well as the transforming care model, and a more nuanced understanding of cognitive disabilities such as dementia, we are seeing a much more complex picture of care where the architecture and physical environment also play a central role. _

Through selected case studies the project will highlight and explore different key themes, that can point to future directions and possibilities for these typologies.
