Research Project

PhD-project by Architect Eva Tind Kristensen, started December 2007.

This Project studies how the systematic thinking in the architectural, technological and industrial field contributes to the creation of a poetic architecture. Systems are in this project referred to as those structures, rules and frames that make the poetic possible. The poetic defined as the art of creation, which is connected to: The human body (scale), the senses (narration), and the created (object).

The intention of the research process is to join traditional architectural methods with new technologies and new modes of production. The architectural and theoretical investigations are finally related to the topical practice of the building industry, eg. Danish terms: “systemized prefab delivery” and “digital building”.

Through this the question rises: how to ensure the poetic dimensions in the development of new industrial building systems.

The PhD-project aims to embrace the historical, theoretical and current knowledge in this field through theory, case studies and architectural research methods and create an analytic frame, in which the architectural development of future industrial building can be challenged.
