Sofie Bjerring Sørensen
Sofie Bjerring is M. Arch from KADK (2008) and a former editor of the architectural magazine Arkitekten. Her ph.d.-project “Notions of Privacy in Psychiatric Architecture” explores the dilemma between care and surveillance in psychiatric hospitals. On the basis of Danish examples from mid-19th Century to the present, the study aims to analyse how specific design decisions and notions of privacy shape each other in the make-up of therapeutic environments – does privacy have an actual size?
