Graduation Summer 2015: 220 graduates on the way
To the sound of rhythmic applause, 140 newly qualified architects and 80 newly qualified designers were awarded their diplomas by the Rector Lene Dammand Lund, who also delivered the following message to the happy graduates:
“I know that you are brilliantly talented – and I hope you can see that there is no room for mediocrity. Take a different direction from everyone else, when it comes to getting a job. Take a job in a municipality in West Jutland and find out what it’s like to be alone, but where your expertise is highly appreciated.
Read municipal casework and use this knowledge strategically in other contexts.
Take a job in a manufacturing company that has never had an artistic academic on its workforce, and show them how your design talents, your empathy for users, and your capacity to tackle complex issues can be used at the highest strategic level in the company.
Go abroad for experience, which Danish employers do not yet have. It doesn’t have to be all about design from the start. That will come in time for anyone, who really wants to work in that field.
It is just an old wives tale that says you get furthest by taking the direct route! “
