Tuesday 15 March saw the kick-off of a major internal dialogue process at KADK to get input from staff and students on how to improve the schools of architecture, design and conservation in the face of major financial cutbacks. In the next few years, KADK needs to cut education costs by 38%. While this is both a challenging and complex task, it also paves the way for positive changes and streamlining in the institution.
KADK wants the dialogue process to mobilise all the creative forces in the three schools, so that detailed knowledge and innovative proposals will form a solid foundation for the KADK of tomorrow.
“Recently, we have been listening carefully to suggestions from the world around us and from the business community. We are taking their concerns seriously and using their recommendations in our decisions about what to do and where there is room for improvement: for example, when it comes to finding jobs for our graduates quickly. In this internal dialogue process we are listening to staff and students and asking them to come up with solutions. This process will continue over the next few months, so together we can create a strong, artistic and viable KADK for the future.”
In addition to presentations by the Rector, Lene Dammand Lund and Vice Rector, Svend Lawaetz, the Heads of Subject from the three schools – Mikkel Scharff (School of Conservation), Mathilde Aggebo (School of Design) and Peter Thule Kristensen (School of Architecture) – described their thoughts and visions for the three schools, and what strengths and characteristics they believe it is important to maintain in the process.
