PhD Student at KADK Li Jönsson has been awarded by Designfakulteten (The Swedish Faculty for Design Research and Research Education) for her thesis Design Events, which she defended on the 7th of November 2014.

Li Jönsson’s Design Events gives an excellent example of how to accommodate a designerly engagement, that doesn't contribute to a quick solution to a problem, but instead illustrates a practice that opens up alternative ways to understand, intervene and expand issues.

Designfakulteten's (The Swedish Faculty for Design Research and Research Education’s) Design Research Award recognizes excellent design research conducted by researchers who defended a thesis on design research orientation at a Swedish university. The prize is established by the Swedish Design & Research Network and is SEK 10 000.

Design is not just a way to make and do things, it is also a set of practical skills and a way to understand and engage with the world around us. Designers are currently working in innovation processes and also within public institutions. From this follows that the challenges are different and have change from before. With the thesis Design Events, Li Jönsson gives an excellent example of how to accommodate a designerly engagement, that does not contribute to a quick solution to a problem, but instead illustrates a practice that opens up alternative ways to understand, intervene and expand issues.
