For applicants with an impairment
Special educational support in case of impairment - SPS
As a student enrolled in the bachelor or master programme at the Royal Danish Academy, you can apply for special educational support (SPS) if you suffer from a documented impairment and require special support in order to undertake your study.
You must be a Danish citizen, be covered by an international agreement, for example be an EU or EEA citizen, or have the same status as a Danish citizen.
The support is granted by the National Agency for Education and Quality, and you can apply when we have confirmed that you are offered a study place. However, you are welcome to contact the sps counsellor before admission.
After admission your application must be submitted to the SPS counsellor at the Royal Danish Academy. The counsellor can guide you about which kind of documentation is needed and more.
On the National Agency for Education and Quality website you find rules and regulations concerning the scheme, including requirements. The information is in Danish. Find the link below.
Danish State Educational Support (SU) supplement
Students with permanent impairment, who are entitled to financial support (SU) from the Danish Government, can apply for a grant supplement that compensates for the reduced ability to work outside study hours.
It requires that your impairment reduces your chances to hold a study job.
The legislation in the field of SPS is extensive and sometimes complicated. A most information is in Danish only.
