Architect
Architects with a master’s degree in Type & Wayfinding may specialize in architecture and spatial graphics. Graduates may work independently or as employees in design or architectural firms, as communication and exhibition architects in museums, organizations or charitable or humanitarian contexts. We are also seeing a growing job market in wayfinding design in connection with large-scale construction projects, including the so-called ‘super hospitals’ and new residential areas. 

Typical work areas:

• architect specializing in spatial graphics and exhibition design

• architect specializing in design of signage

• architect specializing in wayfinding and user behaviour

• architect specializing in branded spaces and visual identity design

• graphic designer

Designer

In addition to having a broad background in graphic design, designers with a master’s degree in Type & Wayfinding will be able to specialize further in type design, spatial graphics, signage design and visual identity design. The acquired competences may also be applied in digital design or in a job as a book designer or as art director for a magazine. Graduates may work independently or as employees, as graphic designers in design agencies or as designers in the communication department of a major company or organizations. We are also seeing a growing job market in wayfinding design in connection with large-scale construction projects, including the so-called ‘super hospitals’ and new residential areas.

Earning a PhD

You may also consider applying to the three-year PhD programme offered at KADK, which is a world-class doctoral programme. You will have the choice of either a traditional PhD programme or an Industrial PhD, where you are employed by a company. PhD candidates graduating from Type & Wayfinding typically specialize in visual perception, user behaviour in spatial settings, design history or type design.
