An Embassy aspires to promote its own country’s unique, cultural heritage and aspirations abroad; presenting themselves to the wider world.

Architecturally, these are symbolically charged buildings, uniquely defined by domestic politics, foreign affairs, and a complex set of representational requirements. By definition, an “Embassy” is the diplomatic representation of one country’s government within another… Technically, this does not have to be in a “fixed” location, but could be mobile and represent Japan across Denmark, not just in the city of Copenhagen, but beyond.

The project imagined a spatial atmosphere that could be attributed between two departments of the Japanese Embassy: Its department of Diplomatic discourse (through conversation and negotiation), and the other being its awareness of promoting their own Culture abroad.

Could Japanese ideals be communicated within a contemporary, Scandinavian context, through the medium of a travelling, “Architectural” experience?
