Empyrean is an old Greek word for fire; from the same origin are the scientific words empyreuma and empyreumatic, applied to the characteristic smell of the burning or charring of vegetable or animal matter.

Empyrean is a central fire or energy column, that during the day works as a conference or working table, but during the night offers a communication enlivening opportunity to prepare food so that all participants can see each other. It is a response to modern family model – the “negotiated family” – and is designed to offer a break from technology for versatile conversation during a process with common aim and purpose.
