RESCUE BAG

In the Northern regions of the World, large distances, the cold climate and growing outdoor activities are all reasons that more cases of accidental, severe hypothermia occurs. If professional care facilities are far away, it is crucial the that right treatment is provided on location immediately. The rescue bag is designed so that it easily and intuitively can be used by any chance rescuer. It stops the process of cooling and begins reheating and by monitoring the patient’s temperature and heart rate, the product will help you give the right treatment. The rescue bag has different openings used for CPR, administrating medicine and in order to have contact with the patient for treatment or comfort without opening the product to much.

In my research i have worked together with FALC group, IVA Dr. Jonas Karlsson in Varberg and Dr. Torvind Næsheim in Tromsø who is an expert in hypothermia rescue, currently researching in Hypothermia rescue in University of Tromsø - The Arctic University of Norway and working for The National Air Ambulance Services of Norway. Together we developed a rescue algorithm and procedure for the correct rescue.

In my design process i have used sketching, but also used models in 1:10 and models in 1:1 to develop my product to be as intuitive as possible. I sew a 1:1 model of my design to test it again with a specifik target group and got a step closer to realizing my product.
