1:1 Research By Design
An exhibition by Institute for design and Communication and CITA.
The exhibition "1:1 Research By Design" showed results from research at the Institute for Design and Communication and CITA, at the School of Architecture. Shown at the KADK gallery Meldahls Smedie, March – April 2011, the aim was to show examples of research using experimental design practice as a method of questioning.
Through drawings, models and experiments in full scale the exhibition showed spatial and structural experiments joining digital and material modes of design enquiry. CITA presented work developed through collaborations with research partners in the fields of digital architecture, structural engineering, material science and acoustical engineering.
The projects brought together different explorations into the use of plywood as a structural material (Dermoid), new materials integrated into the home (Reef), textile logics as a structural principle (Thicket) and complex surfaces for acoustically defined spaces (Distortion 2).
CITA wishes to thank its collaborators and supporters. Please see full list of collaboration in the individual project pages.
