Light Lectures #4: Communication with light
Light Lectures er en foredragsrække, hvor vi fire gange årligt inviterer en række lysfaglige eksperter til at fortælle om deres arbejde og intentioner. Light Lectures er organiseret som et samarbejde mellem Arkitektonisk Belysningsdesign på KADK, Lighting Design på AAU Cph og Velux Danmark A/S.
Light Lectures er en åben foredragsrække. Alle er velkomne.

Gunver Hansen Studio
Gunver Hansen Studio is one of the leading lighting design studios in Denmark. GHS is a small independent office with many years of experience. GHS have conducted more than 500 large and small lighting projects for public spaces, streets, railway stations, shopping centers, offices, museums, churches and homes, and the studio have designed a number of luminaires for its lighting projects. Many of the lighting projects are published in magazines and have won awards.
The Energy Tower is a heat and power plant, that produces electricity and heating from burning waste. The Facade building is made of amber colored aluminum sheets, that are perforated in a pattern of circular holes. The facades are illuminated by indirect lighting with RGB LED projectors, that are programmed in dynamic light scenes by a lighting control system.
The indirect lighting seen through the holes of the facade perforation transforms the Energy Tower to a low resolution media facade with great potential to communicate with the citizens.
The Energy Tower in Roskilde is one of the largest luminous landmarks in Denmark.
The 70 meter long recycle station light tunnel covered with graffiti painting is illuminated by 48 RGB LED projectors, connected to a light control, and programmed in dynamic light scenes. The dynamic play of colored light, merged in a symbiosis with the large tunnel painting, becomes a vibrant 'Gesamtkunstwerk' of light art and painting.
Maria Johansson
Maria Johansson is professor in environmental psychology at the Department of Architecture and Built Environment, Lund University, Sweden. She leads several research projects that focus upon human-environment transactions from the individual’s perspective in urban and natural environments. One of her research interests concerns people’s experience of artificial outdoor lighting.
The talk will be based on recent research on people’s reactions to energy-efficient outdoor lighting in residential areas carried out by the environmental psychology research group. Special attention will be given to the perceived quality of the light in relation to pedestrians’ perceived visual accessibility of the environment and feelings of safety.
Jari Vuorinen
Jari Vuorinen is a partner and lighting design director of Lighting Design Collective. They specialize in creative lighting solutions and light art interventions mixing coding, digital content creation, software development and design strategies.
Mixing LED technology, lasers, coding, biomimicry, sensing and human error LDC creates light works that draw attention. In this talk Jari Vuorinen, will introduce concepts and technologies in the vanguard of lighting design. The talk grants a backdoor access to LDC’s development lab and reveals in detail unseen works of light art and technology including the making off for “Anonymous” a participatory public laser installation that drew 200000 visitors in Helsinki in four days.
