Udstilling : THE GOBI

Vinter 2016 rejste 14 arkitektstuderende fra programmet "Architecture and Extreme Environments" til Gobi ørkenen.
Formålet var at udvikle stedspecifik design til løsning af nogle af Kinas omfattende miljøproblemer.
Det er der kommet en udstilling ud af - og den kan ses på KADK biblioteket, Holmen frem til 14. marts 2017.

"Aiming to engage with many of China’s environmental challenges through architectural exercises, fourteen students traveled to the Gobi Desert region during the winter of 2016, to test their own constructions and prototypes. 

From Lanzhou, one the worlds most polluted cities, to Baotou, the world’s main source of rare earth metals, we travelled over 5000 km to explore and test the performance of inventive solutions to clean polluted air, find new local building materials and deal with world record temperatures, amongst many other experiments. Students systematically measured performance, monitored results and wrote scientific papers to study the potential of their hypothesis and engage with local communities and researches in the process of site specific design in territories out of balance.

These expeditions are the first step towards proposing a critical and alternative approach to building design, to be developed during the second semester.

The expedition was in collaboration and with the sponsorship of Lanzhou University of Technology and South East University in Nanjing."
